Flexbot: häwa and STL present a newly developed cobot base frame

Wain/Bobingen, October 9, 2024. No more wobbly robot frames! This is the promise of STL Steuerungs-Technik-Leuthe GmbH and häwa GmbH. The two companies have jointly developed the Flexbot robot frame, which was presented to the public for the first time at the 2nd Robot Day during the in-house exhibition at STL in Bobingen near Augsburg.

The result of approximately six months of development work by the two companies is impressive. STL uses the Flexbot base and the UR cobots to build handling systems. The Flexbot is produced by häwa for STL in stock and can be purchased by anyone in the desired configuration – STL offers the Flexbot as an open system to anyone interested. The production of small series of Flexbots is planned so that rapid availability is always available for short-term needs.

The base frame is available in two options. One for the UR 5 and UR 10 as a mobile Flexbot. And with adjustable feet and additional weight plates in the base area for the UR 20 and UR 30. The number after the two UR letters indicates the maximum load capacity for the robots – the UR 30 can thus carry 30 kilograms. Stability and safety are top priorities. For example, to prevent tipping, the UR 20 and UR 30 are only available with adjustable feet that can be attached to the floor. Two powder-coated steel plates with a total weight of 160 kilograms are installed under the Flexbot as a counterweight to the articulated arm.

Flexbot is an all-in-one solution with space for robot control, electrics and pneumatics. In addition to its stability, the product also impresses with an appealing design as a high-quality powder-coated steel console and is delivered fully assembled. Mounted on casters or leveling feet, it offers high flexibility, and transport with a pallet truck is also possible. Standardization also achieves an attractive cost-performance ratio.

Flexbot was presented at this year's in-house exhibition at STL. The company's 2nd robot day took place at the company headquarters in Bobingen. In addition to host STL and häwa GmbH, the specialist for special solutions in machine frames, other well-known companies from the robotics and control cabinet construction industries were also involved.

STL Leuthe GmbH, häwa's partner in this development, offers its international customers a comprehensive package of electrical engineering services as a service provider and integrator in the fields of automation technology, cobot cells and control cabinet construction. Its expertise ranges from the mechanical and electrical structure of control cabinets, to the assembly and integration of cobot cells, up to the programming and automation of production systems. The company has been firmly established in the automation industry for over 25 years and plans to continue its steady growth at the Bobingen site.
