Questions and answers

The training lasts up to 3.5 years, depending on the occupation. You can find more information about the occupations requiring training offered here.

At häwa, you can expect not only challenging tasks that will help you develop, but also an environment in which you can ‘live your ideas’ and work independently. We believe that independence is the key to personal and professional growth. With us, you are not just an apprentice - you are an important part of our team!

The best time to apply is about a year before the training is due to start – so in the summer of the previous year. Of course, we accept applications throughout the year. However, if we receive an application too late, it may be that all the training places for the year in question are already taken.

In principle, this is possible. However, we prefer applicants to decide in advance on an apprenticeship that best suits their interests and abilities.

For the online application, we need the following documents, in addition to your personal data, which you can upload directly to the applicant portal:

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae
  • School certificate
  • Proof of, e.g. internships
  • Photo (optional)

You can upload your application in one file, or you can upload each document individually.

  • Convince us in your cover letter: Why do you want to do an apprenticeship at häwa, what do you expect and why are you particularly suited to the apprenticeship you are applying for?
  • Your CV should also demonstrate your qualifications for the apprenticeship.
  • Include examples of additional activities (e.g. social, cultural or political activities) and relevant personal interests.
  • Provide proof of your experience with certificates or references for internships, language courses, etc.
  • Ensure that your application is well presented by making sure that your documents are complete and free of errors.

You can find our open training positions on our job portal.
You start the application process by clicking on the ‘Online application’ button. You will find this button below the job ad you clicked on.

In the following steps, you enter your data, upload all relevant documents and complete your application. As soon as it is complete, you can submit it. You will then receive an automatically generated confirmation of receipt by email.
You can find more tips in the section on the application process.

After we have received your application, you will receive an acknowledgement of receipt by email shortly afterwards. Your documents will be forwarded directly to the human resources department and reviewed. The pre-selection process usually takes about one to two weeks.

The interview is the last step in the application process. At this point, we have already been convinced by the application from a professional point of view. Now we want to see how well the applicants fit in with us personally. In a pleasant interview atmosphere, we want to get to know each other and clarify any open questions. Of course, we also want to learn about personal interests, the exact reasons for choosing a career and expectations of the training occupation.

We recommend that you find out more about our company beforehand. The following questions, among others, may be asked during the interview: ‘How do you imagine a typical day in this job?’, ‘What do you think makes this job so interesting?’, ‘What do you think it takes to be successful in this job?’ The answers should be spontaneous and honest, not memorised.

In addition to the content of the answers, we also pay attention to how you behave during the interview. A certain amount of excitement is normal. It is important to us that applicants make a friendly and interested impression on us. Questions for us are expressly welcome.

If applicants also convince us in an interview, a contract offer is made – and we are pleased to welcome a new apprentice at häwa.

Since we have a largely online-based application process, applications from abroad are also possible. We can conduct interviews via Microsoft Teams.

Training usually begins at the start of September. Trainees will be informed of the exact start date in good time before the training begins.

The structure of the first days and weeks of training depends on the location. However, there is always an introductory phase to help trainees find their feet. You will learn more about the training programme, get to know the other apprentices and gain insights into the location where the training takes place. To ensure that the apprentices feel well looked after from the outset, you will also be accompanied by a mentor (an apprentice in a higher year of training) at the beginning of the apprenticeship.

At häwa, apprentices have many contacts to whom they can turn with their questions: the trainers, the training officers in the specialist departments, the training mentors, the members of the youth and apprentice representation and the works council are all available to provide advice and support to the apprentices.

During their training, apprentices will pass through various departments at their training location that are relevant to the respective apprenticeship occupation.

Trainees are entitled to 30 days of holiday per year. If a training programme begins or ends within a year, the holiday entitlement is calculated pro rata.

The chances of being taken on are very good given the company's past experience and development. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a guarantee of permanent employment at the beginning of the training period. However, apprentices who successfully complete their training have a good chance of continuing to work in the company.

Learning does not stop with the successful completion of vocational training. häwa supports its employees in a variety of ways with specific further training, both internally and externally. In doing so, we address the individual needs of our employees as well as the requirements of their working environment..
